City and little Villages

Arcachon
Arcachon is the seaside resort of the Arcachon Basin. The beach extends over 800 metres, with two piers (Thiers and Eyrac), and its marina is the only deep-water port in the Arcachon Basin. The town of Hiver presents a remarkable group of bourgeois villas from the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century – a wonderful architectural paradise.

Cap Ferret
The sandy headland at the tip of the Arcachon basin, Cap Ferret is home to a fishing village. A listed beauty spot, Cap Ferret has its chic side with villas hidden behind pine trees, and a traditional part with oyster fishing ports with rows of pretty wooden cabins painted in vivid colours, such as the village of L’Herbe. Climb to the top of the lighthouse (53 metres, 258 steps) for a magnificent view over the Basin of Arcachon or take the little train linking the ocean beach to the headland.
